“UNABRIDGED” * WELCOME! As you will notice, our Website is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION! Please excuse our mess while you browse thru our TITLES, AUTHORS and CATEGORIES. 1. The first thing we would like you to know is that you can RENT different ways: IN OUR STORE: BY THE BOOK (Occasional) – there is a minimum charge of $5 for the first 3 days and then an additional $1 per book per additional day until you’ve finished your book. A BLOCK OF TIME (1 month, 3 months or 1 year) – this is UNLIMITED rentals either 1 or 2 books at a time. Listen, bring it back, listen over and over as often as you like during your rental period of time. [FREEZE your account if you aren’t able to listen to a book at any time during your rental period or if you want a Vacation Rental] VACATION RENTALS – this will allow you to take 2, 3 or 4 books for an extended period of time - 2, 3 or 4 weeks. *** If you want AUDIO Book LIBRARY to mail you a book or sell you a return mailer, there will be a $2.50 per mailer charge (which can be charged to your credit card). RENT by MAIL: DOWNLOAD a Membership Application from our Website and fax it to us. (We’re trying to allow you to e-mail it directly to us). You can also download an “Audio Books By Mail Wish List” and 1) fill out which rental plan you prefer 2) make a list of about 12 books you would like us to send you 3) fax it (or e-mail your own list you may have prepared) to us. AUDIO Book LIBRARY will charge your credit card for the rental plan you indicated and send you the first two (2) available books on your Wish List. When AUDIO Book LIBRARY receives one of your books in the mail (which generally takes 1 day within San Diego County) we will send you the next available book on your Wish List. Please remember there is no pick-up or delivery on Sundays or Holidays. 2. The majority of our books are UNABRIDGED (the complete book) while some titles are ONLY available in an Abridged version. *** The book publishers release many titles only Abridged on CD while releasing the same title UNABRIDGED on Tape. This is a problem that we see changing “slowly” since most new cars only have CD players. Many older titles are not released UNABRIDGED on CD so the only way to get many titles (by Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy, Janet Evonovich, John Sandford, Michael Connelly, etc.) is on Tape. [AUDIO Book LIBRARY sells/rents a wireless FM transmitter when used with a cassette or CD player; will allow you to play the book thru your car FM radio and listen to it thru your car speakers]. {Abridged books (Fiction) can be seriously shortened. For example: The DaVinci Code is 16 hours Unabridged and 6 hours Abridged. Angels and Demons is 19 hours Unabridged and 7 hours Abridged. Prey is 13 hours Unabridged and 6 hours Abridged.} 3. Our 1st store is called La Mesa but it’s actually on the border of La Mesa and San Diego. We are located on I-8 and 70th Street and share a parking lot with D.Z. Akins. Please remember that D.Z.’s parking lot is crowded at lunch time so unless this is the only time you can visit AUDIO Book LIBRARY, please consider coming before or after lunch. We are open Monday through Friday from 10am until 7pm, Saturday from 10am until 6pm, and Sunday from 10am until 5pm. |
